The Wings of Hope Auction was held in two stages -
the Online Auction and the Live Auction.
Top Bids from the Online Auction were taken forward to the Live Auction.

Item values and bids are in US Dollars.

The Auction is now closed.

What Happens When The Auction Is Concluded?


Placing a Bid

The Online Auction will be held on the IBBA Mailing List. Bids may also be submitted by e-mail - see below. Bidding is now OPEN!

Anyone intending to attend the Live Auction is asked not to bid during the Online Auction, they will get their chance to bid during the Live Auction.

Bids must be submitted either on the IBBA Mailing List (a private list for IBBA Members only) or by e-mail to Melanie McCarthy at monarchs@themonarchy.com or Linda Rogers at timshellfarm@gmail.com. Anyone can place a bid, whether or not they are an IBBA member, but non-members are only able to submit their bids by e-mail to Melanie or Linda.

Bids will be acknowledged personally by e-mail and on the IBBA Mailing List, and a spreadsheet will be maintained on the Wings of Hope website HERE.

When you send in your bid, please check for a confirmation reply from Melanie or Linda, or on the IBBA Mailing List, or on the website spreadsheet, so that you know your bid has been received. If you do not receive confirmation within 24 hours, please e-mail Melanie at monarchs@themonarchy.com or call her at 413-893-9012, or email Linda at timshellfarm@gmail.com.

The Live Auction will be held on Saturday, November 13 at the 2010 IBBA Convention.

The top bids from the Online Auction will be brought to the Convention and will become the opening bids at the Live Auction. If no higher bid is placed, the top online bid will be the winning bid.

In any dispute, the decision of the Live Auctioneer and/or Auction Committee will be final.


To Place an Online Bid:

Online Auction bids may be placed on the IBBA Mailing List (IBBA Members only) or by e-mail to Melanie McCarthy at monarchs@themonarchy.com or Linda Rogers at timshellfarm@gmail.com -- please also Cc: e-mail bids to IBBA Administrative Officer Bobbie McGee at ibba@froco.com.

Please include "WoH Auction Bid" in the Subject line of your mailing list or e-mail bid, so that we can easily identify bid e-mails.

Please include the following information:

  • The Item Number and title of the item(s) that you wish to bid for (see Item List);
  • The amount that you wish to bid for each item (in $US.);
  • Your full name;
  • Your full address including country and zip code/post code;
  • Your contact telephone number; and
  • Your e-mail address.

On receipt of your bid, you will be sent a confirmation reply with your bidder number. Please note that you may not receive a reply immediately. If you do not receive your reply within 24 hours, please call Melanie at 413-893-9012 to confirm that your bid was received.

What Happens When The Auction Is Concluded?

Auction Winners will be announced at the Live Auction, on the IBBA Mailing List and on the Bidding List Spreadsheet. Any winners not present at the Live Auction will also be informed by e-mail.

If the winning bidder was able to collect their winnings at the live auction and has not yet paid, please send your payment by PayPal.

If you do not wish to use PayPal, please contact Auction Committee Co-chair Melanie McCarthy (monarchs@themonarchy.com) to discuss an alternative method of payment.

Paying by PayPal

To make a payment by PayPal, click the logo below to visit the PayPal website, then click the Send Money tab. Please use payment@wingsofhopebutterflies.org as the recipient of your payment. To help us identify your donation, please include your name and the name of the item(s) that you have won in the Message box at the bottom of the PayPal payment page.

If You Have Donated an Item

We will contact you to let you know who has won your donation. If you need to ship your item to the winner, we will let you know when their payment has been received. If you require a contribution toward shipping (see below) then please contact the winner directly.

Important Note About Shipping:

Please note: while many donors have generously offered to cover shipping costs, the cost of shipping oversized or heavy items, or of shipping outside the U.S., might be more than they can, in fairness, be expected to contribute. The winning bidder must be prepared to pay for any excess shipping costs associated with their winning item if the cost exceeds what the bidder intended.  This will be determined when the item is ready to be shipped.


Minimum Bids

Minimum bids, where indicated, are intended to ensure that winning bids will reflect the item's value. The minimum bid value is usually set at approximately one third the retail value of the item, unless the donor specifies otherwise.

If there is no minimum bid listed, the first online bid will be accepted as the opening bid. If no online bid is placed for the item, the opening bid level will be decided by the Auctioneer at the Live Auction.
